THE SHORT OF IT

Welcome! My name is Krystle. You can call me Kriss.

This is my blog. It’s filled with musings of a design nerd, branding and marketing tips mixed in, and personal style for a bit of a spicy kick.

I live in Los Angeles, where I design pretty graphics in exchange for money to
buy clothes and shoes.

THE LONG OF IT

I’m a graphic designer passionate about branding.

I’m one of the biggest nerds you will ever meet, seriously. I was 14, bored over winter break, when I decided I wanted to learn how to create really pretty websites. They didn’t seem too difficult so hopped to it and I downloaded Photoshop (took 3 days on dial-up and my family lost all phone privileges –totally worth it.) I figured out everything I needed to know by experimenting and spending my days at Barnes and Noble. I created a few sites and wrote countless cringe-worthy teenage blog posts.

I also tried to build an online interactive closet like Cher’s in Clueless. Now, that was a toughie.

The nerd alert meter went through the roof when I created and managed my high school’s first student body website. I spent a few sleepless nights to make sure there was a working portal to request songs to be played at lunch. But I was also a cheerleader, so ya know, whatever.

At 18, I got my first paid gig for freelance design work. That’s when it hit me. More than anything, I loved the business of design.

I loved each entreprenuer’s story and passion. I wanted customers to hear it too. I wanted to create sites where a customer actually gets a feel for the business.

I saw myself trying to make every receptionist/accounting/sales/manager job into marketing/design position. For a few years I struggled with these jobs and only saw glimpses of hope when I designed the occasional flyer. It majorly sucked. Finally, I was hired as a graphic designer at super cool start-up with even cooler designer brands, also known as Revolveclothing.com. 5 years later, I still work there 2 days per week while freelancing from home the other 3 days. And I love it.

People who are unapologetically themselves are awesome and inspiring.

They stand out in a crowd and become unforgettable. Let me help take your personal style, infuse it into your brand, and give you rockin graphics to share with the world. Trust me, when your brand is uniquely you, we can’t help but notice!

And if you really read all of that text I commend you and hope to shake your hand someday, friend.
